Stay Cool & Safe This Summer at Siena Francis House
When temperatures soar, we open our Cooling Center at Siena Francis House to provide a safe, air-conditioned space for individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.
During the summer months, whenever extreme heat is in the forecast, our Cooling Center is OPEN from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM to help people cool down, re-hydrate, and connect with vital services.

Please note: Our Emergency Shelter remains open year-round. If the Cooling Center is closed and you are in need of services, you are always welcome to come to the shelter for support.
What We Provide
All guests at the Cooling Center will have access to:
- An air-conditioned space for rest and recovery
- Case management services to help identify shelter options and develop emergency safety plans
- A heat care package with donated essentials (depending on availability), which may include:
• Bottled water
• Sunscreen
• Lip balm (chapstick)
• Aloe vera gel for sunburn relief
Our case management team is on-site during Cooling Center hours to provide personalized support and guidance.

We are located just two blocks from two Metro Area Transit bus stops.
Limited transportation assistance may be available for individuals facing barriers.
Who Can Use the Cooling Center?
The Cooling Center is available to anyone experiencing a housing crisis who is not currently checked into an emergency shelter or housing program.
How You Can Help
Extreme heat = extreme need. These are some of our busiest and most urgent days of the year—and we need your help to continue offering life-saving care.
We’re currently in need of:
- Bottled water
- Sunscreen
- Lip balm (chapstick)
- Aloe Vera gel
- Financial contributions to help support increased operational demands during extreme weather
